Calum Best Has Calum Inherited George Bests Drinking Habits

Every person who has been down that road paved with drugs and booze always thinks he can beat it. So you have promises of rehabilitation – and actual rehab sessions that could just last for months. Well, one of the latest to consider rehab is Calum Best so that he can beat his battle with drugs, drinking, and sex addictions. Considering that his father battled with booze for years, it’s not too surprising that Calum has inherited the same genes. However, in his case, it seems to have taken on even bigger proportions. Calum confessed to The Sun newspaper in Britain that he is a bad boy that likes to go out and get drunk and high on cocaine and he also admitted that he does stupid debauched things with all the wrong women. However, just a confession is not enough to clear the cobwebs of bad habits. A much more rigid rehab program is probably what is needed if he does not want to go down the same road as his father.

Would things have been different if Calum had sought help earlier? There has probably been an even division when it came to celebrities who went into rehab. Many of them have come through with flying colors while others just go right back to the cesspool of their addictions. The question to be asked is: do you feel sorry for these people or not? Can they help what they are doing or are the addictions so strong that they carry them along, helpless in their flow?

The tragedy of George Best is well known. One of the greatest footballers in the world, he died young thanks to drink. If he had lived, he would always have had the halo of being a legend around him. But it was not to be thanks to his addictions – the same way that a happy family life or closeness with his son was not to be. So while he couldn’t give Calum any legacy of love, what he did unfortunately leave him with was his addiction to alcohol and sex. That is the legacy that Calum will have to battle and get rid of now. Is it possible or not? While some would say that it is entirely up to the individual to shake off a bad habit or not, there are others who are convinced that if it is in the gene, it is very tough to shake it off. It needs professional help and that is what perhaps Calum should seek.
