Calum Best About His Parents

For someone who romps in and out of the celebrity gossip pages of newspapers and magazines, one is bond to be curious about the guy’s parents. Well, Calum Best comes from stock that made the headlines too. George Best, his father was a football legend. Hailing from Ireland, he made his name and entered the football Hall of Fame with Manchester United. George was a winger and what set him apart with his name in lights was his incredible ability to beat defenders. Put that together with his skills of acceleration, pace, two-footedness, balance and goal scoring and you’ll see why he grew to legend status. Then, George pulled off a European Cup win and as a result, he was named the European Footballer of the year.

Angie Best is originally from Essex and was born Angela MacDonald James. She is a former model and Playboy Bunny but is best known as George Best’s ex-wife. From working in a Playboy Club in London to modeling in Los Angeles was a quick step for her and it was while she was there that she met George Best as she was signing for the Los Angeles Aztecs. From love at first sight, it was a crazy spin downhill. They moved back to London but George just went into a downward spiral with his drink and his womanizing and it wasn’t long before Angie returned to L.A. However, George was able to sweet talk her into setting a wedding date. Their wedding was a much-publicized affair but George just drank and gambled the night away. This probably set the trend for the way things were to progress in this marriage. Even after they had Calum, George just went down the path he knew and loved best. It wasn’t really a surprise to anyone when they split.

So what was Calum’s relationship with his parents? Having been more with his mother, he is obviously close to her. As for Angie, she has publicly declared Calum her pride and joy. They might have had their ups and downs but they got through it together. However, Calum seems to be more of a chip off the old block – George, than his mother. He might have argued with his father and not had very pleasant memories of him but he seems to be going down the same path as well. Good, bad or otherwise is not really for us to judge but when someone is as high profile and as newsworthy as Calum Best, people are bound to have an opinion, whether they should or not.
